A new era in social drinking

If you would have told me a year ago that I would be spending my Friday nights alone in my bedroom drinking...I would have said that I have gone down "that" road - cut me off.

Oh, but I can still claim that I am a social drinker - even when I'm alone.

Thank you internet.  Thank you Twitter.  Thank you @TheBlogess of http://thebloggess.com/ for hosting #wineparty.

For those non-Twitter savvy souls (yes, I was one a few months ago), a hashtag such as "#wineparty" allows people to follow messages containing this key phrase.  Like entering a chat room of yesteryear.

For two hours each Friday, women - and a few brave, brave men - enter into a drunken Tweetfest.

This is an interesting way to meet new (real) people with similar snark-itudes.

My first visit was near disaster.  Not only did I struggle at following the conversations (that all appear simultaneously in the feed), but also trying to keep all these new people straight.

Oh, and I spilled a glass of red wine on my bed.  Party foul.  Yes, I could have gone undetected and simply not said anything.

But I'm the person who trips up the stairs and looks for the person who watched it - hoping the fall didn't go unlaughed.

I fessed up.

Anyway, it's a way for me to unwind for a couple of hours at the end of the week.  I enjoy it.

Also, it keeps me from watching the "Hey, we know only losers watch TV on a Friday night" programming.  I don't need TV execs reminding me that I have the social life of a snail.

Unless you've watched Microcosmos, then you know how HOT snail sex can be!

*sizzle*

I'm even dorkier because I'm jealous. With the time change, I'm never AWAKE for #wineparty. Assface.
