- that we'd be inside or walking (rather than hiking and camping - for packing purposes),
- the room wouldn't have a TV or radio, and
- roughly what part of the state we'd be in.
A weekend away!
My mom came down to stay with Babygirl. We left Saturday after lunch.
After driving for hours into the hills of south central Indiana...we stopped in Story, Indiana.
Here...
I remembered that he'd used the word "rustic." Rustic. Rustic.....
Don't say anything rude.
Don't. Say. Anything.
I didn't speak for nearly 20 minutes. He'd planned and called and reserved and had everything ready. He was excited, proud.
We checked in. The room was cozy...and HAUNTED! I immediately read the guest diary in our room. Some had seen the Blue Lady ghost, others had not. No one seemed scared.
Screw it.
I bought in.
You only live once, right?
We sat on the swing in the lovely herb garden. We were welcomed by the resident cat. We ate like kings. Walked the 14 acre property. We played bottle cap checkers on an antique desk on the porch. We hung out in the bar with other visitors. We burned the midnight oil with the locals.
After we shut the lights off in the room - I didn't open my eyes until daylight, but I hardly slept. A combination of how late we crashed and being a touch nervous about being watched. No signs of a specter spectator, although my camera went dead that evening and is fine now (a phenomenon described in the Inn diaries).
We laughed. We talked. We had a fantastic, romantic, rustic, and possibly haunted time.
Perfection!

This looks like a FUN, romantic place!
Sounds like a great weekend and a great anniversary!
I wish I could have an escape like that. I could certainly use it!

Despite the rusticity being rather rustic, it looks like it was fun to just do something different huh? Cool photos!!!

But did you have an "experience" wit the dead?
Happy anniversary, BTW!
Thanks for the comments! It was lovely and simple. No TV, no cell, no phone. Quiet...
In the middle of the night, it was a little TOO quiet. No bumps in the night - and I couldn't see anything as my eyelids were tightly closed!
The restaurant inside that rusty exterior was out of this world! I would go back in a heartbeat (so long as I can consume the same amount of vodka as I did that night!)
I would love that! I hope you had fun. Happy Anniversary! Oh, and I'm glad you weren't eaten by the ghost...
